We once started with these interviews. And we just decided to get on with this idea. At least you want to read about the guys behind the tees. This time we met Palle from RVLT and redrabbit somewhere deep in the cyberspace. And he brought some new pics from the upcoming collection which comes in august. Read on, guys…

Hey Palle, how are you? It’s right dark in here, where did you brought me? “Well I would like to show you that bright styles and a passion for prints can light up even the darkest places.”

Hmm, great, why not. Well, actually we knew each other only from the internet. So can you tell the guys out there something about you, the revolution and the red rabbits? “Like any other good story it all began in a bar. Here I met Christian Katballe (business partner-to-be) who was trying to make a living from different shops. I worked in the bar as a sidekick to my architect-studies. We were both keen on the fashion industry – so we challenged one another, giving the business a couple of years. For several years we had our struggle getting a position in the industry – but we learned some valuable lessons in the first 5-6 years; fashion is hard work – you will lose sleep over it. And don’t do it for the money. Today we are 8 people working on the Revolution and Redrabbit – we have the best team anyone could ask for –one happy family, filled with creativity, good spirit and the ambitions to do good and have fun.”

Below we see another peek from the next autumn/winter collection. So who is the guy on the pictures? And where did he already buy this stuff?! “He is the pretty face, we mixed Colin Farrell with Dylan Mckay, added a few dance moves and there he was. Someone once told us – pack your stuff in prettiness and the sales will rise, so now we will just have to wait and see. By the way, he has to wait like anyone else to get the styles – I also have to wait for the big shipment to bring home the size XL – it is coming out in the shops in august.”

Take us on a tour on a typical day in the life of Palle Bruun Rasmussen… “Up at seven, aproximately – a quick walk with Elton John– the 3 legged dog (don’t know why she won’t walk on the fourth leg). A quick stop at the coffee shop, before hitting the old corn stock building at the harbour side – 3 tabs on spacebar and Illustrator is running again – this Friday is about some new and different print ideas with new techniques, some design concept for the autumn catalogue and designing a new table for our showroom. After work beers and BBQ with friends in the backyard – properly pissed around midnight.”

Some people have visions. Do you have any for revolution / redrabbit? “Stay true, independent and have fun – some days we rock, others we suck. But we are always reaching for that right style.”

OK, now that you’ll be a millionaire someday, which three tee labels would you then like to acquire? “Anyone with a high admirable originality – no one mentioned, no one forgotten. I learn from almost anyone out there, whether it tells me how it should be done ore (just as important) how it shouldn’t be done.”

When you are not thinking of designing tees and business and stuff, what are you doing else beside? “Is there anything else to do? I help my girlfriend in her business www.hellomonday.net or… well, if the global warming isn’t going to influence our newly build lodge in St Anton, I’ll probably go there with a bunch of magazines and a laptop and wait for the big dump and then hike out into the back country, riding my Voelkl Gotama along with Christian on his newly bought RadAir.”

Interview with Kenyon from Future Relic

As Kenyon from Future Relic dropped us a mail with some quite interesting pics we decided to do the first SELEKKT interview with them. So watch the pics and enjoy the lines.

What is Future Relic and who is behind this crazy stuff? Tell us about your history and your ideas. Future Relic is my biz partner, Paul Kim and myself. We were college friends with mutual interests in design, art and fashion and came up with the idea of starting our own label as an outlet for our creative work. Our designs are a reflection of our shared opinions and sociopolitical commentary. We come up with the ideas, then I sit down in front of the computer and make them come to life.

How did you find out about Kim Yong Ills b-boy career during the good old times? I found an old home movie of Kim Jong breakin like Turbo. He’s bad ass.

bubblegum.jpg

If you became a politican, what would be the first law you were about to change? We all know politicians can’t change laws. They only break them. I would like to see the law applied equally to all politicians just as it is to the rest of the public. Politicians should be held to a higher standard and shouldn’t receive “get out of jail free” cards one they get elected into office.

What is the happy lady on the second having on her face? It’s cream cheese, isn’t it? Creamy Irish.

monkeysee.jpg

Did you ever had any contact with those two policemen on this shirt? The “Monkey See” tee design is not about personal run-ins with the law, but more commentary on the cycle of corruption. Did the monkey learn from the cops, or are the cops learning from the monkey? It is a chicken and the egg type scenario where the cycle of corruption (use of excessive force, cops dealing in illegal business, etc…) never ends unless someone puts a stop to it. The cops are just standing there. Apathy enables this cycle to continue.

If you imagine this interview really would be published - is there anything you ever wanted to mention? C-3PO is gay.

Glad to hear this. Thanks for the interview.
